Born in Soweto (1992), Grace graduated with a BA in Fine Arts from The University of the Witwatersrand (2015). She later became a recipient of the Studio Bursary at Assemblage Studios funded by the African Arts Trust. She currently works as an independent artist and has an intense passion for drawing and painting and a curiosity in astronomy and philosophy.
Due to her interest in the experiences of spatial voids and how we engage with the idea of an empty space and other worldly spaces, Grace’s art practice focuses on the subjective sublime experience(s) of physical space by creating fictional spaces that evoke a sense of silent uncanny mystery, infinity, and transcendence and ephemerality; and aim to challenge the viewer’s sense of perception of and their psychological, aesthetic and physical relationship with space.
